ANNIE - Official Trailer (2014)

I’m not gonna lie, I teared up a little bit when I saw the trailer.

I’m sooo excited for this… cheese fest and all!

this is so freaking adorable and yes i cried. I can’t wait.

I CAN’T WAIT

So I’ll probably get slammed for this (because, tumblr) but here goes anyway.  Ask box is open, slam away.

When the original Little Orphan Annie was written, chronologically we were a lot closer to a time where there was a strong bias against Irish people.  By making Annie red haired, it was implied that she was of Irish descent, and by extension, the audience would have inherently known that was part of the bias against her.

Changing Annie’s race to African American replicates this same dynamic in modern society, and that’s a big part of why so many people were upset by it.  A BLACK orphan?!  Nooooooo, keep her white and red haired and cute I DON’T WANT TO DEAL WITH HOW THIS IS MAKING ME UNCOMFORTABLE.

Casting Annie as black in 2014 is a much more true to the original character than casting her as a caucasian red head.

IMPORTANT FERGUSON UPDATE - WATCH THIS VIDEO BEFORE YOUTUBE TAKES IT DOWN

CNN REPORTER Fredricka Whitfield interviews the Store Owner’s Lawyer (from the store that was “”“”“”“robbed”“”“”“”“”“”” by “”“”“”“”“”mike brown”“”“”“”“”“)

As the lawyer begins to explain what really happened, cnn “”“”“loses the feed”“”“”“

UPDATE (PLEASE REBLOG WITH UPDATE IF YOU SEE IT):

afterwards cnn got back to the conversation with the lawyer BUT THEY CHANGED THE TOPIC // I made a post with some more information from the lawyer // It’s important to look at that link. you’ll learn that mike brown WAS innocent and the police had nothing on him so they went to the shop, after mike was already dead and the investigation into his death had begun, and that was when they first saw the tapes and were able to say essentially “this guy looks sorta like Mike Brown we can just say he was responding to a robbery report”

The owners never filed a robbery report, either did any of the store’s workers

ALSO IVE GIVEN THIS SOME THOUGHT AND CAN Y’ALL NOT LOOK INTO THIS TOO DEEPLY CUZ IM NOT TRYNA GET ARRESTED OR TO DISAPPEAR #PLEASEANDTHANKYOU #GODBLESS

You can’t see it but he was in tears when he was free styling. I can relate to what every word he says and it’s just coming out straight from the heart of what he still feels.

I dont post stuff like this stuff but this brought shivers down my spine. he looks so hurt and I can relate to this so damn much.

I think this guy said what a lot of us struggle to put into words
